{This is a post that I made to a Facebook group of my hometown “Anahuac Texas.” I’m reposting it here, because you never know which brethren may be dealing with this issue}

Good mornin to Anahuaconians 👋🙂
A thought occurred to me that I want to share with you (my hometown associates & friends). There’s been times when I’ve had to force myself to “unfriend” certain people, (some of which are my classmates, Anahuac class of 1983), and at times it’s been a very difficult thing to do. These decisions weren’t taken lightly, and I usually took long delays before doing it just to make sure that I wasn’t misunderstanding a person.

There are two primary categories of personalities that compel this action of “unfriending” someone:

  1. They mock God or the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. They’re constantly stirring up strife in matters of racism or politics.

God tells Christians in Matthew 10:

14 “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”

And the word of God tells us in Proverbs 22:24-25:

24 ‘Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.”

And so I value obeying God over any reasoning of man. (It really is as simple as that).

Now if ANYONE comes to me wanting to understand more about the things of God, I’m always eager to help, (that’s different).

God makes it clear that Christians are to love and help lost people to come to Him. But, He also makes it clear that we’re not draw certain personalities into our lives as “friends.”

And that’s what I have to say today about this issue of “unfriending” old Anahuac classmates.

Thank you for sharing a moment of your valuable time with me.

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever.
