Do you know someone who’s joy is sporadic? Someone who’s always into the next thing that’s gonna finally make them happy?
Do you know a professing Christian who’s always needing external motivators (books, motivational presentations, etc) for them to stay enthusiastic about their relationship with the Lord?
Or perhaps they’re someone who’s perpetually discontent by nature.
Their problem is that either they’re spiritually dead, or they’re an immature Christian.
To know God’s joy 24/7, one must first accept how evil one’s self is, (and in direct-relation to that) one must truly own God’s righteousness as one’s own righteousness.
That’s it, that’s the whole answer. (It’s so simple).
Do a self-check…
- Do you accept that you’re entirely evil in your natural state?
- Do you rest in God’s righteousness as your own righteousness as a free gift to you by the obedience of one?
An honest “yes” answer to both of those questions = limitless joy.
However if you can’t confidently answer “yes” to both of those questions, you don’t have the joy that you could have. Press in to God in prayer until you confidently answer “yes” to both of those questions.
And don’t stop pressing in to God until you’re confidently saying to everyone:
“you bet I deserve to go to hell, but you know what? I’m as righteous as God is! Not because I deserve it, but because God gave me Jesus’ righteousness and put all of my sin on Him. He’s perfected my spirit, I’m right with God entirely as a free gift from Him. Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is the only thing that makes me right with God, and I thank God that His redemptive work on my behalf is finished.
I’m the righteousness of God!”
All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever!
