{Beware of people who use religious titles before their names, and beware of people who reference God’s children as the children of Satan}

We are not only forbidden to use flattering religious titles in front of people’s names, but we are warned by God to beware of those who do.

Even Paul never put the word “apostle” in front of his name. Moreover, the word “reverend” occurs only once in scripture, and it’s referencing God. (What blasphemy it is for a sinful man to identify himself as “reverend”).

Psalm 111:9
“He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.”

[bishop, pastor, elder, deacon, etc are functions, not titles]

Job 32:21-22

21 “Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

22 For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.”

Matthew 23:4-12

4 “For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Here now is a small sampling of scripture that identifies God’s children as “holy brethren,” or “saints,” and the children of Satan as “sinners.”

Hebrews 3.1

“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”

1 Cor. 14:33

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

Isaiah 13.9

“Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.”

1 Timothy 1.9

“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,”
