It’s so true that we find God when we search for Him with all our heart.

So I’m going to relate to you three times that I’ve been powerfully blessed by God when I desperately sought Him in prayer.
I also want you to know that what I’m about to share with you isn’t a reflection of my spirituality at all, but a testimony of God & His word being true.

(All of the following events occurred somewhere around 2012 when God saved me).

{I saw God in a way}

I was a commercial truck driver in those days, and I would routinely crawl under my trailer and put my face to the ground and desperately pray to God about various things. And this particular time, I prayed for God to please show Himself to me.

So after praying, I drove 20 miles or so to a small-town and stopped at a convenience store for a snack. (This particular convenience-store also doubled as a greyhound bus stop). And at the store’s entrance stood a very poor blind lady who was all alone, holding a tattered cardboard box, (which held her meager possessions). She was awaiting boarding the bus. So when I approached her, I asked her if she was hungry, and if she was she saved. She politely answered my questions, and I bought her some food and guided her to the bus driver for her to board the bus.

I felt so sorry for her, and as I drove away a thought soon occurred to me that had me bawling in tears.
I thought about the message in these verses:

Matthew 25.35-40

35 “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

God had answered my prayer.

{I thought that I’d blasphemed the Holy Ghost}

I was charismatic back in the mid 1980s when I was a young adult, and I’ve had my share of experiences with pentecostals and charismatics since then. (So I’m very familiar with their practices). Anyway, one day I was having a conversation with someone about charismatic practices, and I stated that some of it is Satanic.

Well a few days later a thought occurred to me that I’d probably blasphemed the Holy Ghost, (which is an unpardonable sin).
Reference Mark 3.29: “But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:”

And the fear that maybe I’d committed this unpardonable sin had me freaking out on the inside! (You can’t imagine the terror involved with that sort of fear). You talk about praying hard, I was doing it. I was begging God to please forgive me. So as I was driving one day, I told God that I can’t take this stress anymore, I pleaded with Him to please let me know for sure if I’m doomed or not.

And it wasn’t 30 seconds after I prayed that prayer aloud to God, my cell phone rang.

(I had been visiting different churches at that time, and I’d left my contact info with them on visitor’s cards).

A man from one of those churches was the caller, and he communicated that he didn’t ordinarily call people at that time of day, but he decided to call me.
(I have tears on my face right now as I remember this).
I was stunned that God had answered my prayer so strongly & unmistakably.
So I explained my situation to the man, and he told me exactly what I needed to know which calmed my fears at that moment, (and I haven’t worried about it since then).
It was a thrilling moment to say the least.
I praise God!

God answered my prayer.

{Guilt relieved}

When God drew me to salvation, He powerfully convicted me of my sin-guilt in my conscience.

I tried everything I could think of to alleviate my guilty conscience, (but it seemed that nothing permanently fixed my inner guilt).
I frequently crawled under my trailer and begged God to forgive me, I confessed countless sins to people, seeking their forgiveness, and I made things right with businesses …But as soon as I’d fix one old sin, another old sin would pop into my mind, and I’d then have to deal with that old sin like before, (there seemed to be no end to this painful experience). When would it end? And dealing with my sins kept getting scarier and scarier to confront, because the sins that were coming to my mind were getting increasingly evil in nature. (These were sins that I would never have dealt with if left to myself, no way).

And as you might imagine, I was becoming a mental wreck in all of this.
However this season of personal guilt was an expression of God’s love for me; He was making me very aware of my need for His mercy.

And God gave me relief from my guilt one night when I was all alone driving my 18-wheeler.
The truth of Colossians 2.13 came alive inside of me:
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”

God made me to know that I had been forgiven of all trespasses! I had been given the faith of Christ!

I screamed and yelled something like …”I’m forgiven!!! I’m forgiven!!! I’m really and truly forgiven!!!”

[I repeated that over and over as I jumped up and down in my seat, banging on the headliner of my truck, exploding in joyous relief!
Oh the relief!!!
I can’t adequately describe what a relief it was to really know that God had forgiven me].

That event that night was the marker when I’ve known for sure that I’m born-again by the Spirit of God.
(I wish that I’d recorded the date, but I didn’t).

My wife Melissa said that my salvation was the most spirituality-violent conversion that she’d ever seen.

God answered my prayers for forgiveness of my sin-guilt when I sought Him with all of my heart.

So let that testimony encourage you my friend. Please privately get on your face and seek God with all of your heart.

God is true to His word.

Hebrews 11.6-7

6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever.
