Good mornin to you my friend, thank you for sharing some of your valuable time with me in considering how I came to be king James Bible believer, and why you should be one as well. (Or its non-English equivalent in other languages).

It may surprise you to learn that back in the mid 1980s when I was a young-adult immersed in the charismatic scene, I was an NASB man. my first bible, the bible that I used back in those days was an “NASB Ryrie study bible.” And as simplistic as it may sound, (as best I recall) I chose the NAS because it’s identifyer had the word “American” in it. That name “New American Standard bible” just had a solid ring to it to my way of thinking. (I was very naive back then).
However I abandoned God and religion for decades after my charismatic experience, (that is until God drew me back to Himself and saved me in 2012).

And when God drew me back to Himself in 2012, I no longer had my old bible from the 1980s. So I went and got me another NASB Ryrie study bible.
This time though, I bought into the NAS’ marketing about it being the most accurate translation of the bunch, (I was sure that I had the best of the lot).

That decision notwithstanding however, I soon began to experiment with other bible versions. (I know right? If I had the best & most accurate version of the bible, then why was I experimenting with other versions?)
And I acquired a slew of other bible versions over the course of time, (the ESV, NKJV, HCSB, NLT, & NIV just to name a few). I was using the NAS as my standard, but I was simultaneously using whatever version presented a certain verse the way I wanted it to say it. (Making myself the judge of God’s word, a very bad idea). Ironically, I had an aversion to the KJV at that time, (I used pretty much any bible version that was saying whatever I liked it to say, so long as it wasn’t the KJV).

[An aside note: I don’t believe that someone isn’t a Christian on the grounds that they use a non KJV version.
God saved me when I wasn’t yet a KJV Bible believer, and I’ve known similar Christians, (albeit unstable in supporting their doctrine in relation to their text].

I also no longer use study bibles (of any kind). They pollute God’s word with sinful man’s uninspired commentary.

Okay, back to the topic…

So post 2012, whenever I’d see someone personally (or on YouTube) standing in the KJV, I’d arrogantly think to myself thoughts like… “that poor soul, they’re so blinded by their tradition. They probably grew up with the KJV and that’s all they know. If only they knew how much more accurate the modern versions are with their Dead Sea scrolls updates and scholarly revisions.”
But God would soon yank my high horse out from under me.

It happened one day when I watched a particular video. It was a video that God used to permanently change my life and how I understood bible versions. (Did you ever have one of those intersections in life that was a profound pivot-point for you?) Well in this instance for me it was a videotaped presentation of someone named Gail Riplinger. She was giving a presentation at a conference somewhere called “New Age Bible Versions.” It’s a very lengthy presentation, (around 2.5 hours), but it’s worth watching every second, even if you have to segment your watching it.

The information that’s presented in that film is so strong and shocking, that if you can sit through it all and still be okay with using any modern bible version, then I can only believe that you’re in a very deep & dangerous state of spiritual deception.
I was personally so horrified by what I came to learn about the content of modern bible versions, that I destroyed every modern bible we owned, (and every shred of modern text that I’d posted).
And I’m talking about destroying very expensive, top-of-the-line, goatskin-covered R. L. Allan and Schuyler bibles, (one of which my wife had shipped from England to me as a birthday gift).
That’s a testament to how serious this issue is.
But you’ll just have to watch the film for yourself to take all of the information in, I can’t possibly cover it all here.

As a quick reference, let me show you a few examples of how radically-different the messages are between the Westcott & Hort eclectic text derivatives, Vs the KJV which is translated from the textus receptus (for new testament) & Hebrew Masoretic (for old testament) manuscript base:

{I’ve inserted an “*” to highlight their irreconcilably opposing messages}

Mark 10.24:

(ESV) “And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, *how difficult* it is to enter the kingdom of God!”

(KJV) “And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, *how hard is it for them that trust in riches* to enter into the kingdom of God!”

1 Corinthians 15.2:

(ESV) “and by which you are *being* saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.”

(KJV) “By which also ye *are* saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.”

Hebrews 10.14:

(ESV) “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are *being* sanctified.”

(KJV) “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that *are* sanctified.”

(By the way, when some modern bible defender “scholar” takes you to the Greek to show you some deeper meaning of some bible text, you should know that modern bibles use different underlying manuscripts than the KJV uses.
So if you want to “go to the Greek,” make sure that you’re going to the textus receptus or Hebrew Masoretic manuscripts to do your research. And do you really think that today’s Bible-correcting “scholars” have a better grasp on understanding the Hebrew and Greek language than the 50+ genuine scholars who were on the Authorized Version translation team? I don’t.)

Now I simply believe whatever the KJV says as the final authority, as the perfect word of God. I no longer go bible-looking to find some other version that fits with what I prefer it say. I submit to the Bible, it doesn’t submit to me.

I have lots and lots of posts which spotlight various differences between the KJV and modern bible versions, so please use those posts to learn all you can about this issue. Such as how Frank Logsdon repudiated the NASB in horror as he went about to undo the damage he caused in his association with its publication. Or how about how the modern versions all attack the Person of Jesus Christ, and how they facilitate the antichrist’s one-world government to come in how they communicate their text. (I could go on and on).

But the main purpose of this post isn’t to be an exposition of every nuance of differences between bible versions, I simply wanted to share with you how and why I came to be a king James Bible believer.
Hopefully I accomplished that with this article. But far more importantly, I hope that by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit I’ve helped you to see your way out of a bad place if you’re in one.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else, and I’ll gratefully do whatever I can by the power & guidance of God.

Psalm 12.6

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

Psalm 138.2

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”

All glory to the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and no glory to us whatsoever!
