Post Las Vegas massacre media coverage…the exaltation of man’s pride, and the denial of Jesus.

Have any of my fellow Christians noticed what I’ve noticed? Everywhere that you see a microphone stuck in someone’s face, you see people either bragging on their own efforts or bragging on someone else’s efforts in response to this massacre. Even the discussing of how wicked that shooter was is a way of exalting oneself, if someone omits the fact that their only righteousness is the imputed righteousness of Jesus.

I’ve yet to hear one single word from anyone publicly-speaking about the massacre:    exalting the Lord Jesus Christ, or directing people to take refuge in Him.

How many of those people who are behind a microphone or in front of a microphone claim to be a Christian? And with a world audience ready to hear whatever it is that they have to say…they say absolutely nothing about the Lord Jesus Christ; they completely disregard Him and exalt sinful man instead.

So let me end with some appropriate scripture please…

Mark 8.38

“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Luke 13.1-5

“There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

3. I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5. I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

  1. Lee, this true! As it almost always happens the Lord is left out or reproached. It is a blindness, willful ignorance. In the past I ignored or blamed God for my own foolishness.

An incredible thing did happen though (maybe many!). One young husband got in front of his wife and was shot and killed. That reminded me of Romans 5:

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
