Good mornin 😃
In Ephesians 4.24, we’re shown how to understand sanctification in practice. Basically, we who are in Christ should behave like who we already are in our new man, (our spirit). Our new man, (our spirit) is righteous & holy as a gift from God, not of ourselves. Therefore we must distinguish our new man, (our spirit) from our corrupt flesh. (See also Romans 7.15-25). (Remember Hebrews 10.10)…”By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (See also Acts 26.18, 1 Cor. 1.2, 1.30, 6.11, Heb. 2.11, 3.1, 10.14, 13.12, & Jude 1.1). That truth in Hebrews about our sanctification destroys the notion of progressive sanctification doesn’t it?…Jesus rightfully gets ALL of the credit.
2323. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
2424. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
2525. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
2626. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
2727. Neither give place to the devil.
2828. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
2929. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
3030. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.1
31. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
3232. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
(This last verse settles all doubt that God has already forgiven the Christian of all sins). So you as a Christian can quit asking God for forgiveness…you were already fully forgiven at the cross.
